This is the first 6 stages of the print.
My work is representational and naturalistic. I go for a walk with a sketchbook and make drawings of anything that interests me. Then back home in the studio I use the sketches to try and make the best print that I possiby can.
"The artist is also a born adventurer. His explorations, unlike those of the tourist, are rewarded by the discovery of beauty spots unmentioned in the guide books, and with tireless curiosity and an exceptional proneness to wonderment, he will come upon objects of remarkable interest overlooked or even shunned by more disciplined observers."Augustus John, R.A.

New print and a new body of work
It is often said that familiarity breeds contempt, I am ashamed to say that when it comes to my own local area I am guilty of this. I have recently started to look anew at the valley where I live and grew up in . An area that for the last 30 odd years I have sadly overlooked and neglected when it came to inspiration for my own work. In part this has come about because of my daughter Carly's growing interest in photography. Seeking out local sites for her to explore and photograph has made me look again at the history and landscape of my local area, revealing some hitherto unknown and surprising riches. So this new print is in someways a new beginning, heralding the start of a new and in some ways more personal body of work.
